Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary
is one of the most popular excursions for
people residing in New Delhi. Located at
a distance of barely 46 km from the national
capital, the bird sanctuary is the state
of Haryana. Founded in the year 1971, a
bird sanctuary, the protected area was later
given the status of a national park in 1991.
Sultanpur National Park is extended over
an area of approximately 143 square kilometres
and provides a natural habitat for birds
and those who migrate each year.
Appropriate arrangements
have been made in Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary
to ensure that visitors are able to have
a good look over the birds. These include
four watchtowers and a number of caches
in the park. All these places provide you
with a magnificent view of the whole park,
so you do not miss seeing a species of exotic

Flora
The vegetation of the Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary
includes mainly tropical forests and dry
deciduous forests. Thus, you find trees
as Babul savannah grasses, acacia, jamun
and Banyan points on the landscape. However,
the basement of the sanctuary is very fertile
and can be found carpeting with lawns, trees,
shrubs and lots of bougainvillea.
Birds
Sultanpur National Park is primarily known
for being home to a wide variety of birds.
White ibis, spoonbills, Red-Wattled Lapwings,
herons, spoonbills, painted storks, cormorants,
egrets, Plovers are popular residents of
Sultanpur. While Siberian cranes, flamingos,
Gadwalls, Mallards, Spotted Sandpiper, Darters,
Ruddy Shelducks, pelicans, flamingos, Bar-headed
geese, Darters, Demoiselle Cranes, Grey
Lags, Spotted Sandpiper, Pochards, Shovellers,
Gadwalls and mallards are among the most
popular migratory birds in the park.
The fauna
Besides being home to a large variety of
exotic birds, Sultanpur National Park also
supports a rich wildlife. The animals are
seen here Striped Hyena, Leopard, Nilgai,
Sambar, Blackbuck, Hog Deer, Four Horned
Antelope, Caracal, Lycaon, Rattle / Honey
Badger, Mongoose, Hedgehog, Wild Pig, bobcat,
Indian Porcupine, etc.

Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary not offer too many
tourists accommodation options in its premises.
Haryana Tourism Development Corporation
's tourist lodge will be your best bet.
However, there are a number of hotels and
boarding houses located near the national
park, which will provide the answer to all
your accommodation requirements.
