Hazrat
Nizamuddin Dargah Auliyaa is located in
New Delhi, across the road from Humayun
's tomb. The 'dargah 'revered Sufi saint
Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliyaa has its followers
across the Islamic world. A regulation has
emerged here, known as 'Nizamuddin 'for
short. The shrine houses the tomb of Amir
Khusrau, a famous poet and Saint 's beloved
disciple. Violations plate, the sanctuary,
and the region itself, appear to belong
to another century. The shrine was built
by Mohammed Tughluq and is a sacred places
of pilgrimage in India.
Other graves located in
the compound of Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah
Auliyaa belong to Jahan Ara Begum, Shah
Jahan 's favourite daughter, and Mirza Ghalib.
Every Thursday, you can hear qawwalis here,
around sunset. According to the legend of
Nizamuddin, Sheikh Nizamuddin was born in
Budaun in 1236. He came to Delhi with his
mother and became a disciple of the famous
saint Sheikh Farid Shakarganj. The leaders,
as Ala-ud-Din Muhammad Khilji and Tughluq,
were devoted to him.
It said he had already
prophesied advance of this city Tughluqabad
will never prosper and that Ghiyath-ud-Din
Tughluq, who was then in Bengal, Delhi would
never see. The prophecy came true and he
died in 1325. The original tomb has been
renovated several times and this tomb was
built in 1562. The area around the tomb
is considered sacred. Twice each year, the
festival 'Urs 'is celebrated here to commemorate
the anniversaries of the death of Hazrat
Nizamu 'd-Din Auliya and Amir Khusra
