Delhi History

 

Delhi has a very historic because it was judged by some of the most powerful emperors in the history of India. The history of the city dates back to the time of Mahabharata, when it was known as Indraprastha, the city of Pandavas. According to the great epic, the place was originally a piece of barren land and has been converted into a beautiful city by the efforts of Pandavas. Like other kings occupied the neighbouring region, some are from other cities like Lal Kot, Siri, Dinpanah, Quila Rai Pithora, Ferozabad, Jahanpanah, Tughlakabad and Shahjahanabad.

Later, these cities merged into one and surpassing lively metropolis, which finally became the political capital of India free. Delhi was a witness to the political crisis for more than five centuries. He was tried by the Mughals in succession to Khiljis and Tughlaqs. In the year 1803 AD, the city has come under British rule. In 1911, British transferred their capital from Calcutta to Delhi. He became the new centre of all activities. But the city has a reputation for throwing one who is seated on his throne. It included the British and the current political parties who had the honour of leading the free India.

After independence in 1947, New Delhi was officially declared the seat of government of India. During the partition of India thousands of Hindu refugees and Sikhs in Punjab in the West migrated to Delhi. Since then, the city has not looked back. Delhi has a nice mix of various cultures. The beauty lies in diversity, it shows. In some places it is a garden city with beautiful parks, while in some places, it 's crowded with heavy traffic. Turbaned Sikhs, colourfully dressed and rajasthani gujarati women, traders Muslims in Chandni Chowk area of Old Delhi, Tibetans and along Janpath Ladakhis and Kashmiris in handicrafts emporia around Connaught Place, all add the cosmopolitan atmosphere of the city.

Soaring skyscrapers, chic and lively residential colonies commercial complexes can be seen adding to its metropolitan characteristics. This is supplemented by the old historical monuments. The traditional and contemporary art and crafts from all over the country are available in shops and shopping malls. Other than this, Delhi has become the centre stage for all political activities in the country. The first government minister, administrative and judicial buildings are also located here.
