The
Crafts Museum is located at Pragati Maidan
area of New Delhi. It displays Indian artifacts
and offers a first-hand experience with
artisans at work. Among the most rare and
exquisite works of art and artifacts collected
on a selective basis all regions of India,
are the prized property of the museum. Created
in 1956 with an objective to present and
promote the works of artisans d ', there
were more than 20000 exhibits in early 1980.
The display of architectural and authentically
Indian villages built of mud huts, decorated
with folk art and tribal exhibitions, such
as wood carvings, paintings, papier mache
and embroidery, attracting many tourists.
One can even see the full
dimension of wooden haveli Gujarat at the
museum. The Crafts Museum Shop in the complex
is also worth visiting. The museum has been
divided into several specialized galleries,
including rural and tribal Craft Gallery,
Gallery courteous handicrafts, textile and
Gallery gallery of popular culture. There
is a reference section, which is of great
help to the scholars, designers and crafts.
The live demonstrations to produce and make
folk arts and crafts are amazing. Those
interested can also buy souvenirs, as ritual
objects, ornaments, carpets, shawls and
books, whether or artisans of the museum.
